For about two hours, residents and nonprofit leaders spoke on the proposed FY 2026-27 budget. They asked the board to keep community-based organization (CBO) and arts funding, restore $12.4 million for early-morning bus service, fund the Environmentally Endangered Lands (EEL) program at $20 million, and protect eviction diversion and library funding.

After public comment closed, Mayor Levine Cava defended a no-increase-in-millage budget that cuts costs and transit service. Commissioners pressed on bus routes, illegal dumping, reserves and a projected shortfall. The ordinances (Items A–H) had not been voted on by the end of this stretch.
